Brian Tashima was born and raised in Hawaii and has been a resident of Vancouver, Washington since 2000. Brian is an author, singer, songwriter, guitarist, and dad to two awesome kids, one of whom is on the autism spectrum. He currently works for EarthLink as a Pricing Analyst.
Brian is also a singer, songwriter and guitarist who has won a Hoku award (Hawaii’s version of the Grammys) and has had his music featured in short films, international compilations and numerous other forms of media. He is currently a member of SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators), Willamette Writers, and three Vancouver/Portland-based rock bands.
Brian’s Young Adult Sci-Fi Fantasy novel, Secret of the Songshell, was a finalist in the 2012 USA Best Book Awards for fantasy fiction and is the first of a planned seven-book series called The Spectraland Saga. The second book in the series is Mystery of the Moonfire. The third book is expected to be released in 2017.
Brian Tashima lives in Vancouver, Washington and joined the Autism Empowerment Board of Directors in 2013 after being a great supporter of the non-profit. He is currently serving as Treasurer and is also on the Editorial Advisory Board of Autism Empowerment’s Spectrums Magazine. Brian donates a portion of the sales from his books to Autism Empowerment.
