Hello! Welcome to Autism Empowerment’s Community Calendar page.  We are based in Vancouver, WA in Clark County. This section contains a calendar of upcoming Autism Empowerment  events taking place in the Southwest Washington and Portland, Oregon metro area.

Autism Social Club / Game Club @ Arc of Southwest Washington

Autism Social Club / Game Club is a fun monthly event that takes place on the last Friday of most months in Vancouver, Washington. It is a time for kids to play games and have the opportunity to hang out and meet other youth. Parents can relax, share information, play games with their kids and/or get support from each other. The club activities are geared toward ages elementary and up. Siblings of all abilities are welcome.

Snacks, games, bingo, fun!

$5 per family + please bring a snack to share (example: chips, dessert, veggies, fruit). 

The Autism Social Club is a family game night that has been active in Vancouver, WA for many years and has been facilitated by a number of different local autism families. In 2015, Shelly Brands and Amy Smith passed the torch to Autism Empowerment and the club now operates as a program of Autism Empowerment.

We currently meet on the last Friday of most months at The Arc of Southwest WA, 6511 NE 18th St., Vancouver, WA 98661. We are currently looking for a new location for 2017.

In addition to monthly game night, we also have a closed group page on Facebook for Social Club members. If you live in Southwest Washington and have children or teens on the autism spectrum, we invite you to join. If you are in the Portland metro area and want to attend our group, you are also welcome. SW WA Tweens & Teens Autism Social Club @ The Arc of SW WA Family Center

The SW WA Tweens and Teens Autism Social Club is a fun monthly event focusing on gaming that takes place on the third Saturday of most months. We currently meet at The Arc of Southwest Washington Family Center at 6511 NE 18th St. in Vancouver, WA.

Tweens and teens on the autism spectrum are invited to attend a fun monthly social game club.  Parents must stay on the premises and are invited to join the other parents and facilitators in the parent room for support and socialization. Facilitators will periodically monitor the game rooms, but the intent is that this club is is an opportunity for our kids to enjoy some independence and fun with friends.  Kids are invited to bring their own game devices (Nintendo DS, iPad, iPod, laptop, etc.) or board/card games.  We will also have televisions and game consoles available for game play.  

Siblings and peer mentors ages 10 and up are also invited to attend.  We are looking for brothers and sisters who are compassionate, understanding, and interested in spending some time socializing with their siblings and making new friends.

** NEW for July 2016 – Torin Tashima will be starting a Tween/Teen Book Club to meet at the same time and location. This is an option for youth who may prefer reading or discussing books to playing board/video games. More details coming soon!
