Autism and Scouting Radio Guest
August 2nd, 2012 – Talking Inclusion with Alexander – Autism and Scouting is happy to bring on Alexander Piela a parent of a scout who is on the Autism Spectrum. Alexander contacted Autism Empowerment and the Autism and Scouting Program and asked to come on air and talk about how scouting can provide scouts on the spectrum a place to thrive and be accepted. During the conversation we also talked about how Robert Baden-Powell the founder of the Scouting Movement used “The Jungle Book” to introduce youth to scouting and the fact that one of the main themes of the book was inclusion.
Alexander works as a Traffic Reporter in the Washington, DC area. He supports the scouting program because they promote inclusion and acceptance for all abilities.
